Tuition Information and Eligibility

The COST SALT Basics School is designed to provide opportunities for new state tax professionals (0 to 3 years of experience) to significantly upgrade their knowledge base. The School is a great educational opportunity for tax professionals with 0 – 3 years of experience; tax professionals transitioning between transactional and income taxes and vice versa; and or tax professionals who may have been out of the “tax world” and want a refresher. It incorporates separate modules covering income tax theory, sales tax theory, income tax compliance and sales tax compliance.  No prerequisites required.

The COST SALT Basics Course Tuition for full paying students includes:

  • A private, fully equipped hotel room for arriving on Sunday, December 5th and departing on Friday, December 10th.
  • 5 full days of meals and snacks beginning with dinner on Sunday, December 5th and ending with lunch on Friday, December 10th.
  • Comprehensive study and reference materials.
  • 5 days of small group training by recognized leaders in the state and local tax field.
  • Evening Activities.
  • In-Room Internet (passcode will be given at hotel check-in on Sunday, December 5th).                       

The COST SALT Basics Course Tuition for commuter paying students includes:         

  • 5 days of meals and snacks beginning with breakfast on Monday, December 6th and ending with lunch on Friday, December 10th.
  • Comprehensive study and reference materials.
  • 5 days of small group training by recognized leaders in the state and local tax field.
  • Evening Activities.

COVID-19 Safety Protocol

 

By attending this COST School in-person attendees hereby agree to abide by the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center and COST COVID-19 safety protocols.

 

COST has determined that the best and safest way to proceed with its Schools is to require all “in-person” attendees to be either fully COVID-19 vaccinated or to have had a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of the start of the School.

Meals

All meals will be served in the Conference Dining Room, which is open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.  Snack service will be provided throughout the meeting area between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. If lighter fare is preferred for breakfast, a continental breakfast is also served in these snack areas in the morning. (A COST badge must be worn.)  

Reservation / Room Information

COST will make your hotel reservations for each full time registrant.  All reservations will be made with each attendee arriving on Sunday, December 5th and departing on Friday, December 10th.  The School registration fee includes the five nights.  If you plan to arrive early or depart later, please inform COST as to your plans.  Each additional night is $149 plus taxes.  Each individual will be responsible for payment upon check out of the hotel for the additional night(s).

The Georgia Tech Conference Center has 252 guestrooms. All rooms have high speed internet access, flat-screen TV’s, private bathroom, irons and ironing boards, in-room coffee and tea service, room service, bath robes, and complimentary newspapers. Advanced fitness center and indoor pool are available to guests. Non-smoking and wheelchair accessible rooms are available. Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and check out is 11:00 a.m.

Trasportation Options

Taxi cabs are available for approximately $45 one way.  Uber/Lyft are also available.

Atlanta Airport Shuttle – approximately $25 one way and tickets can be purchased in baggage claim area without reservations.

Atlanta MARTA Rail System – the cost is approximately $3.50 one way. Catch the train at the airport and take the Northbound train to Midtown Station. From Midtown Station, catch the GA Tech Trolley which goes directly to the Hotel & Conference Center and is complimentary – inform the driver that you are going to the GA Tech Hotel & Conference Center.

Cancellation Policy/Restrictions

Cancellation policy for the SALT Basics School: There will be a $75 cancellation fee for cancellations received before November 16th. Cancellations between November 16th and December 1st will receive a 50% refund.  No refunds will be allowed after December 1st. All cancellations/substitutions must be in writing.

Permission to Use Photo Policy

By registering for the COST SALT Basics School, attendees hereby agree to allow COST to use any photos taken of them during the school in news media, website, publications, articles, marketing pieces, etc. 

Continuing Education Credits

COST will assist in applying for Continuing Education credit for the 2021 SALT Basics School.  COST is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org.
